Even though I can run APRS on my Amiga using the PC BridgeBoard (286) I am
wondering if there is a port for the Amiga Computer, or source in C or C++
that could be compiled on the Amgia using SAS/C??

Subject: Bug reading news from KA9Q
To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
I currently have KA9Q NOS version 930507 running on my PC. My NOS is
configured to get some newsgroups on an NNTP host server on our network.
For example I get the newsgroup MTL.GENERAL (Montreal misc.)
My NOS get the news from the NNTP server with no problem. But when I try
to telnet on my PC and try to go to the area with "a mtl.general" I
receive the message "Mail file is busy, Abort or Retry ?".
If I copy the file general.txt that is in the directory \spool\mail\mtl to
the directory \spool\mail and I try the command "a general" there is no
problem.
Is there any way to read with "a mtl.general" without the need to copy the
file in \spool\mail ?
Please respond to me to:

Does anyone have any experience running a Kantronics D4-10 in the
445 to 450 MHz range ? The stated spec for the radio is 428 to 436 MHz.

I want to know how to use a Yaesu FT-5100 for 9600bauds packet. An
article on February QST stays it can be used without modifications.

Well, here's one who will be on the air with it, as soon as I receive

out there with a KAM who upgrades too.

And here's one, who won't spend a rusted dime on it
until it's opened to public. In the meanwhile, feel
free to use PacTOR (and other digital/manual modes)
talking to me.

Subject: KPC3 vs MFJ?
To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
I'm a newly licensed ham and would like to try packet radio.
I think I've narrowed my choices to a Kantronics KPC3 or a MFJ-1974 (?)
Not too sure I have the right MFJ model number, it has some appeal for me
as it is HF capable (I know it ends in 4 and has the tuner LEDs).
Any opinions/thoughts/alternatives would be appreciated. I have an Icom
2-SAT handheld, Kenwood TS-120s HF rig, PC compatible and a Commodore 128
as possible equipment to hook to the TNC.

Get the MFJ it's as simple as that. I had a KPC-3 and sold it because it is
impossible to modify because the hardware in the thing is compatible with
exactly nothing. I've since bought an MFJ-1270B (it's just like the 1278
only without any tuning lights on the front). I like it because it can be
modified for 9600 operation it will do HF packet, and I can put different
EPROMS in it (I currently runa KISS only EPROM). The KPC-3 is good for
beginners but I can garuntee (sp?) that you won't be happy with it for very
long. If you have any questions about either model feel free to E-mail
me at the Internet address listed below.

I'm looking for information on using gun diodes at 10Ghz and 24Ghz
using digital modulation as a multi channel repeater link. So far I have not
found any sources via gopher or ftp. Can anyone help me out on this?
I know that Alpha sells gunn diodes but I need more information on designing
the system.

To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
The local bbs up here is using node software (TheNet?) which doesn't allow
someone to digipeat into it. To help out a friend, I told him I would change
one of my digipeater to a node so that he can connect with it and instruct it
to connect with the BBS.
Can someone tell me what the options are, and hopefully where the software
can be dl'd? I will be using an MFJ 1270 (plain TAPR TNCII clone) and I have
an eprom burner.
Thanks,

Has anybody out there ever connected a TNC to a PRC-77 (manpack) or
RT-524 (veh mounted) VHF Military radio. I have to do just this and
would really appreciate some advice. I understand the interface is
nu as Mil-Spec as one would think.
